App privacy policy

This covers the HabreCare mobile app. The website has its own page, which is shorter, because the website only handles an email address.

What you write in HabreCare is about your mental health. We treat it that way. This page says plainly what is collected, what is never collected, and how to have it all deleted.

Your account

To sync across your devices you need an account. You can sign in with a one-time code sent to your email address, or with Google or Apple. We store your email address and an account identifier. If you sign in with Google or Apple, they tell us your email address and a stable identifier — nothing else, and we never post anything anywhere on your behalf.

We also store the name you choose to be called, the name you give your companion, and your answers to the short set-up questions: your age group, what you'd like to work on, how you prefer to practise, and when you'd like to be nudged.

What you write in the app

Your check-ins, journal entries, what you put in the memory and worry jars, your thought records, the plan built for you, and a record of the practices you've done and how helpful you said they were. If you attach a photo to a memory or set a profile picture, that is stored with your account too — we ask for photo access only at the moment you pick one, and photos you don't attach never leave your phone.

This is health information. It is stored against your account so it can sync to your other devices and so the app can adapt to you. It is not used for advertising, it is not sold, and it is not shared with anyone for their own purposes.

What we never collect

Worth being specific, because plenty of apps in this category do collect these:

  • No microphone, ever. HabreCare plays sound; it has no recording feature and never listens.
  • No location. Not approximate, not precise, not in the background.
  • No contacts, calendar, or call history.
  • No advertising. No ads, no advertising identifier, no ad networks. Nothing in the app follows you anywhere else.
  • No third-party analytics. There is no analytics or session-recording tool in HabreCare. Nobody is watching you use it.

Reminders stay on your phone

The nudges HabreCare sends are scheduled by the app on your own device. We can't send you a notification from our side, which also means your reminder times never leave your phone as something separate that we hold.

Who else handles it

We use a small number of established providers to run the app: cloud hosting and database services, file storage for your photos and the audio the app plays, and — if you subscribe — the app store's payment processing. They act on our instructions and may not use your information for their own purposes. We never see your card details.

If you'd like to know exactly who they are, write to us and we'll tell you. We keep a current list.

How long we keep it, and deleting it

Your entries stay until you delete them or ask us to delete your account. Deleting an entry in the app removes it from your other devices too.

To delete your account and everything in it, write to hello@marphalabs.com from the address you signed up with. We will delete your account, your entries and your photos, and confirm when it's done. You can also ask us for a copy of what we hold, and we'll send it.

Children

HabreCare is for adults. It isn't intended for under-18s and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we'll remove it.

A note on what this app is

HabreCare is a self-help tool. It isn't therapy, it isn't a diagnosis, and it isn't a medical device. If you are in crisis, please contact your local emergency service or crisis line.

Changes

If this changes, the date at the top changes. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
